I just love this sweet little newborn to 3 month old hat that reminds me of the chocolate candy we love. On the ribbon...add something special like the baby's name. I added xoxos.
Newborn through 3 months Once the baby is older with her own dolls.. this becomes her baby's hat! Yarns I used....red, white and black in the Berroco Comfort Chunky Bulky Weight Gauge... 3.5 stitches per inch in Stockinette Stitch Needles.... Double-pointed size 10

CO 48 stitches. Divide the stitches between three needles - 16 each. Join and begin to knit. Knit until piece is 4.5 inches long. Row 1 - \*K2tog, knit 4 stitches\*, repeat around to start Row 2 - Knit 1 round. Repeat Row 1 and 2 until you have 8 stitches on your needles. Leave 7 inches of yarn and cut. Pull this through the 8 stitches on the needle with a crochet hook. Pull tight and knot, tack down, and trim yarn on the inside of the hat in the pointed area. Let the edge roll up.
For the label
CO 4 stitches and knit until it is 6 inches long. Thread some black yarn in a bulky yarn needle. Stitch your chosen letters across the label. Then tack one end to the top of hat. I folded a little edge over before tacking so that the label would stand tall. then single tack on the opposite corner so that the letters can be seen when worn.
