Worsted Weight Yarn (Caron Simply Soft Eco 249yds / 227m, 5 oz.) Black - 80 yards White - 90 yards per pin (900 yards for 10 pins) Red - 6 yards per pin (60 yards for 10 pins) Set of 5 Double Pointed Needles US size 3 OR size to achieve gauge Stuffing (polyester) and an old T-shirt or fabric scraps 10 Jar Lids, approximately 2.5 inches in diameter Applesauce, spaghetti sauce and salsa lids are great. Gauge is not super important - as long as the stitches are not too loose. Finished pins measure about $13^{\prime\prime}$ tall. (8 sts) Break yarn,using a yarn needle, draw yarn tail through remaining stitches.Stuff the last little bit and pull the stitches tight. Fasten and hide yarn tail on inside of pin. Bowling Ball (make one) Cast on 8 stitches in black. Divide evenly over four needles (two to a needle) and join to knit in the round. It is extremely helpful (but optional) to mark the beginning of the round. Round 1: Knit Round 2: KFB each stitch (16 sts) Next Round: Knit Next Round: KFB, K to last stitch on the needle, KFB repeat for each needle. Repeat the last two rounds until there are 112 stitches total, 28 on each needle. K 12 rounds Next Round: SSK, K to last two stitches on the needle, K2tog repeat for each needle. Next Round: Knit Repeat these two rounds until 8 stitches remain. Use the cast on tail to close the cast on opening and STUFF the bowling ball before the opening gets too small for your hand (ask me how I know)! I used a mixture of polyester stuffing and fabric scraps to give it a little more weight. Break yarn, draw through live stitches, stuff the last little bit, pull up the opening and secure the yarn tail, hiding the end inside the bowling ball. With red and a yarn needle, embroider three Xs to indicate the finger holes. Use the picture as a guide.
