100g sock yarn (4ply/fingering weight) Sample was knitted in Madelinetosh Tosh Sock, colour Tannenbaum (4ply/fingering weight; 100% merino; 361m/395yds per 114g per skein), and used approx. 317m/347 yards. A set of 2.5mm (UK 13-12/ US 1-2) double pointed needles, or 2 short circular needles or 1 long circular needle (at least 80cm long) for Magic Loop method. Choose the needles you would normally use for your preferred method of working small diameters in the round. Two cable needles or spare DPNs
Tension
30 sts and 50 rows to 10cm/ 4ins measured over stocking stitch using 2.5mm needles
Measurements
To fit foot circumference approx. 21.5 to 24cm (8.5 to 9.5 inches). Due to the nature of this design, the easiest way to size it up or down would be to use larger or smalle needles. 2.25mm needles will give you a smaller sock, 2.75mm will give a larger. Alternatively, it would be possible to insert an extra purl column between each cable column. This will increase the circumference of the sock by 6 sts. Please be aware that if you do this, you will need to recalculate the numbers for the heel turn - this should be fairly simple if you've knit a few pairs of socks before.
Notes
Unless stated otherwise, work each line of the chart (s) from right to left and from the bottom up. The sock yarn used in my sample is quite heavy, with a high twist. This helps to give excellent stitch definition.
Special abbreviations
M1PL: Make 1 purlwise. With the left needle, lift up the strand between the two stitches from front to back. Purl this through the back loop.
