Designed by: Heidi Beukelman
Materials:
· 2 skeins Cascade 220 superwash (1 in color A and one in color B), or approx. 100 yds in A and 60 yds in B of any worsted weight yarn · US 10 and 8 needles . Tapestry needle ·1 stitch maker · Scissors

Gauge:
5 stitches and 7 rows = 1 inch Abbreviations: ·k=knit ·p=purl · k2tog = knit two together · sl = slip one purlwise My brother is constantly asking for something hand knit so I wanted something that could stil be masculine, but not too plain or boring. This beanie is simple yet has a little interest with the illusion of color work created by slipped stitches where only one color is used per row. With a little change in color it can even be knit up for anyone.
PATTERN:
Using US 10 needles and color A, cast on 84 stitches using the long tail method. Join to work in the round, placing stitch marker at beginning of round. Change to US 8 needles. Row 1 - 8: \* kl, pl; repeat from \* to end. Row 9: k to end. Rows 10 - 11: With color B - \* k5, sl; repeat from \* to end. (Note: After joining color B and when switching between colors, do not clip yarn, just carry it up the inside of the hat, leaving a little slack and twisting the yarn to prevent gaps or tight stitches.) Rows 12 - 13: With color A - k to end. Rows 14 - 15: With color B - k2, sl; \* k5, sl; repeat from \* to last 3 stitches; k3. Rows 16 - 17: With A - k to end. Repeat rows 10 - 17 until hat measures 6 to 6.5 inches from cast on edge. Knit rows 10 - 1l one more time. Clip color B, leaving a tail long enough to weave in. With color A, knit 1 more row and then begin crown decreases.
Crown Decreases:
Row 1: \* k10, k2tog; repeat from \* to end. Row 2: \* k9, k2tog; repeat from \* to end. Row 3: \* k8, k2tog; repeat from \* to end. Row 4: \* k7, k2tog; repeat from \* to end. Row 5: \* k6, k2tog; repeat from \* to end. Row 6: \* k5, k2tog; repeat from \* to end. Row 7: \* k4, k2tog; repeat from \* to end. Row 8: \* k3, k2tog; repeat from \* to end. Row 9: \* k2, k2tog; repeat from \* to end. Row 10: \* k1, k2tog; repeat from \* to end. Row 11: \* k2tog; repeat from \* to end. (7 stitches remaining).
Finishing:
Clip yarn and draw tail through remaining loops and pull tight. Weave in ends
