Counting how many stitches you need.
Measure your head or the head of the person whos gona have the hat. Do a testknit, whit 50 stitches do you can count how many stictches you have on 10 cm. Counting out how many stitches you have to cast on. E.G If you on your testknit have 22 stitches on 10 cm. That makes 2,2 st/ cm. And if the circumference is 54 cm. You need 2,2 x 54 = 118, 8 \~118 stitches. Take a crochet hook using crocheted provisionally cast on (you can look it up on youtube http://youtu.be/qXkbi2MU-2). Chroche a few more that you need. And leave the last stitch open so you can use it leater. Then take your knits, or your cable and knit up so many stitches you need, be careful not to twist. Knit for 6 cm / 2,5 inches, Purl 1 row, and knit for 6 cm / 2,5 inches. (If you have a lot of pattern on this part of your hat you have to weaw in the ends before you continue.) Then you take a elastic taut, you have to make sure it fint around the head good, not too thigt thoug. You open the provisional cast on and knits bouth layers togheter, whit the ealstic in the middle (you knit that in). Continue knitting. If you have 2 colors 10 rows/ color is recomended. Knit to desiered lenght, the hat on the frontpage is knitter 40 rows. Start decrease by changeing to doubblepointed needels. Row 1 - Knit 1 row. Row 2 - SSK next row. Repeat (Row 1 and Row 2) x 3 (total 8 rows) Row 9 - Knit Cut the yarn, but leave a long tail. Pull the tail throu all the stitches an pull really tight. Weave in all ends. If you want to make a tassle do so and sew it to your hat. Now your hat is ready to use.
