
Designed by Donny Guercio Materials: Rowan Cashsoft Aran, 1 ball each of two colors Size 6 16" circular and double point needles Gauge: Approximately 5 sts per inch - the beanie is knitted on size 6 needles to give a dense fabric for a snug fit. Instructions: CO 92 sts in color A. Join work in round using a stitch marker to denote beginning of round. Work in K2 P2 ribbing for two rows. Change to color B. \*K 1 row then 2 rows in K2 P2 ribbing\*. Change to color A. Repeat from \* alternating colors every three rows until the hat measures approximately 5". Begindecreaserows The colors can be carried up the inside of the hat without cuting the yarn affer each color change. Start the decrease rows on first row of a color change. Continue color changes every 3 rows as described above through decreases.
Decrease Rows:
Row 1: \*K1, SSK, work 18 sts in K2 P2 ribbing as established, K2TOG. Repeat from \* around row. Row 2 - 3: Continue in pattern, always knitting the decreases and the K1 from the previous row when you get to them. Row 4: \*K1, SSK, work 16 sts in ribbing, K2TOG. Repeat from \* around row. Row 5 and all odd # rows: Repeat row 2. Row 6: \*K1, SSK, work 14 sts in ribbing, K2TOG. Repeat from \* around row. Row 8: \*K1, SSK, work 12 sts in ribbing, K2TOG. Repeat from \* around row. Row 10: \*K1, SSK, work 10 sts in ribbing, K2TOG. Repeat from \* around row. Row 12: \*K1, SSK, work 8 sts in ribbing, K2TOG. Repeat from \* around row. Row 14: \*K1, SSK, work 6 sts in ribbing, K2TOG. Repeat from \* around row. Row 16: \*K1, SSK, work 4 sts in ribbing, K2TOG. Repeat from \* around row. Finishing.
Cut yarn leaving a 6" tail. With a darning needle run tail through the remaining 6 sts, pu tight. Bring yarn to inside, tie off and weave in all ends.
