Yarn: 2 skeins of a worsted weight approximately 10o yards in contrasting colors Gauge: 5.5 stitches & 8 rows = 1 inch in stockinette stitch Needles: US 6 16 “ circular & doublepointed needles Note: This pattern has two options for the brim: hemmed & ribbed
Begin:
With Yarn A CO 108 stitches
Hemmed Brim:
Knit 12 rows Purl 1 row Knit 12 rows Fold bottom edge so that it sits directly behind live stitches Knit the first stitch and the first bottom edge stitch togethe: Continue to end of row knitting both live stitches and bottom edge stitches, being careful to keep consistent ( skipping bottom edge stitches will create undesirable ripples in hem), matching stitch for stitch. voila! You are now one step closer to master knitter status.
Ribbed Brim:
k2, p2 for 3 inches Hat:

Knit along with the colored chart starting from the bottom, reading right to left. Tip: to avoid color jogging ( uneven color changes) slip the first stitch of the second row of every color change.

Decreases:
With Yarn B Row 1: \*k2tog, k 22, ssk, k1\* repeat \* \* to end Row 2: K repeat these 2 rows until there are only 20 stitches left Note: number of stitches between k2tog & and ssk will shrink by 2 with each repeat ( ie: 22, 20, 18, 16, 14, 12...)
Finishing:
\*K2 tog, ssk, k1\*, repeat \* \* to end of row Cut yarn leaving a 6" tail with darning needle thread tail through remaining stitches & pull tight weave in ends Tadaa!
