NOTES

Finished size: The flamingo is approximately 7cm tall (not including the cocktail stick legs). Work flat: All pieces are knitted flat (back and forth) on a pair of straight knitting needles. Tension: The tension is approximately 22 sts x 28 rows for a 10cm x 10cm square in stockinette stitch on 3.75mm needles. Don't worry too much about tension for this pattern. Casting on: Unless otherwise specified, use the long tail cast on for all pieces. Copyright @ 2015 Amanda Berry All patterns designed by Amanda Berry are protected by international copyright laws. Safety note: I have used jewellery wire to strengthen the neck, and as the ends can be sharp this teeny flamingo should not be given as a toy to babies or young children.

Making Up

Head and Body: Note that the cast off sts are the tip of the beak. Sew the side edges together along the beak and back of the neck. Sew the cast off edges together (from row 10) along the top of the body, then sew the side edges together down the back of the body adding a little stuffing to the body as you sew. If you wish to strengthen the neck, insert a length of wire inside the neck before finishing and bend into shape. Then gather the cast on sts together at the bottom of the body. Wings: Sew the side edge of each wing onto the side of the body. Eyes: Sew the bead onto the side of the head for the eye. Legs: Insert the cocktail sticks inside the bottom of the body of the flamingo. The legs can be replaced after each use.
