Block over a dinner plate Make pompom (optional) Use pre-made pom pom guide or cut two circles of cardboard to desired size with a hole in the centre. (hole should be somewhere between 1/4 and 1/3 the diameter of the whole circledepending on how full you want the pom pom.) Wind yarn round and round the cardboard circles until the centre hole is completely filled up. Insert the point of the pair of scissors between the outer edges of the two pieces of cardboard and cut around the circle until all the yarn is cut.

Separate the circles slightly and wrap a double strand of wool round between the two circles of cardboard several times. Knot securely, making sure to leave yarn tails and remove the cardboard. Trim pom-pom to desired size and attach to hat.
