It is easy enough for the beginner as the stitch pattern is the same for every row and the buttonhole is very easy to make.

The pattern is written and yarn requirements are listed in the size smal/medium with changes for medium/large in parenthesis. Finishedsize: $16^{\circ}$ (17")wideby $25^{\circ}$ (35") 0ong Yarn PLYMOUTH YARN, BABY ALPACA GRANDE (110yds, $100\mathrm{g}$ $100\%$ baby alpaca) 2 (3) skeins Needles & Notions Size 11 circular needles, $24^{\circ}$ or longer Yarn sewing needle Large button, about $1\;^{3}\!/\!_{4}\!\!\!^{\;\;\bullet}$ Gauge: 14 stitches $=5^{\circ}$ in seed stitch (refer to stitch glossary)
Directions:

SIZE SMALL, COLOR #638 ·CU 45 (51)sts. ·Row l: $\ast_{\mathrm{Kl}}$ , $\mathrm{P}1^{*}$ ; repeat between \*\* across row, Knit last stitch. (Repeat this row every row for the seed stitch pattern.) ● Rows 2-5: Continue in seed stitch pattern. ● Row 6: Make buttonhole as follows: K1, P1 for 15 (17)sts, YO, K2tog; continue in seed stitch pattern across row. ● Continue in seed stitch pattern until you have about 2 yards of yarn remaining. ·BO loosely. · Finishing: Weave in loose ends. Sew button on. I sew the button on the opposite edge of where the buttonhole is placed and about $4^{\circ}$ or $5^{\circ}$ up from the opposite edge of where the buttonhole is placed. Stitch Glossary
Seed stitch - Multiple of 2 stitches plus 1. Pattern row: $^{*}\mathrm{K}1$ , $\mathrm{P}1^{*}$ , repeat between \*\* across row, Knit last stitch. Repeat this row for seed stitch. (Knit the purls and purl the knits.) YO -With yarn in back, bring yarn forward between the two needles and then back over the right hand needle. K2 tog - Insert right hand needle from front to back through $2^{\mathrm{nd}}$ stitch and through the $1^{\mathrm{{st}}}$ stitch on the left hand needle and knit them together. Buttonhole
