Pattern Notes
A pom-pom adorns the top of this hat. The making of a pompom is not included in this pattern. If you donot remember how, or have never made a pom-pom there are many sources for finding these instructions.

M1R Make a right-leaning increase. With the LH needle, pick up the bar between last stitch worked and next stitch from back to front, knitting into the front loop to twist the Stitch. Tw2 Twist Two. Knit second st on LH needle, knit first st on LH needle, slip both sts from needle together. Abbreviations: C1= Main Color, CC = contrasting color, CO=cast on', dpn=double-pointed needle(s), k=knit, k2tog=knit 2 sts together, LH=left hand, m= marker, N= needle, p=purl, pm=place marker, rep=repeat, RH=right hand, rnd(s)=round(s), st(s)=stitch(es)

Montadale
CO 78 (90) sts using circular needle, C1, and your preferred stretchy method. Pm and join to work in the round, being careful not to twist stitches, and begin ribbing. Technique: Before beginning the first rnd; slip the first cast-on st as if to purl, from the LH needle to the tip of the RH needle, now lift the second st (the last cast-on st) on the RH needle over this slipped st and onto the tip of the LH needle. In this way, the first and last sts of the rnd exchange places, snug the slipped st, pm and begin the rnd.

Finishing
Cut yarn, leaving a 12 in / 30.5 cm tail. With your tapestry needle, thread the tail through the remaining 10(12) sts on your dpn and pull tight, cinching up remaining sts to close up the crown. Pull the yarn through to the inside and weave in the tail.Weave in allother loose threads. Thank you for your interest in my design. I hope you have enjoyed your knitting experience and have fun wearing or gifting this Monty Diamond Hat. I enjoyed designing it!
