Hole-y Spiraled Hats, Batman!
Materials:
5mm Double Pointed Needles or 5mm Circular Needle Marker Approximately 190 yards of yarn (l used Ice Yarn's Fiorino 100% Wool yarn)

Note - I have a fairly small head, so if the person you are knitting for has a larger head, increase the cast on stitches (by multiples of 4) and knit the hat a bit longer than I did.
Ribbing for edge:
1. CO 76 sts onto circular needle or divided onto DPNS 2. Join beginning and end, careful not to twist stitches 3. Place marker to mark beginning of round 4. \*K1, P1\* Repeat pattern until piece measures 1.5 inches (or desired length)
Pattern for spiraled, hole-y section:
1. \*K1, YO, P1, P2Tog\* Repeat to end of round 2. \*K2, P2\* Repeat to end of round

Repeat these two rounds for pattern, until piece measures 5 inches from CO (or desired length) \*5 inches is for a very short, snug hat - a looser one would need to be knitted longer\*
Crown Decreases:
1. \*K2, P2\* Repeat for two rounds 2. \*K2Tog, P2\* Repeat to end of round 3. \*K1, P2\* Repeat to end of round 4. \*K1, P2Tog\* Repeat to end of round 5. \*K1, P1\* Repeat to end of round 6. Knit one round 7. Cinch remaining stitches together and secure in place. Weave in ends.
