You will need: Pink DK Yarn Purple DK Yarn Oddments of Yellow and white DK Yarn 3 1% needles.
Main hat:
1) Cast on 28 sts in purple 2) Rib first two rows (knit 2, purl 2, continue to end) 3) Change to pink and continue in stocking stitch for 12 rows alternating colours every knit row. 4) Row 15, k2tog until end (14sts). 5) Row 16, p2tog until end (7sts). 6) Cut yarn and draw through remaining sts. 7 Stitch up hat.
To make tail:
It may be easier to use double pointed needles for this if you have some. 1) Cast on 3sts in pink. 2) Knit an i-cord approximately 3inches in length. 3) Cast off. 4) Using the back seam as a centre guide attach the base of the tail to the ribbed row on the hat. 5) Loop the tale around so that it forms a wave pattern (see picture). 6)Attach the centre ofthe tail to thecentre of the hat. To make ears: Make two. 1) Cast on 5sts. 2) Row l: Knit 3) Row 2: Purl. 4) Row 3: Knit, cast off first and last sts (3sts). 5) Row 4:Purl 6) Row 5: Knit, cast off first and last sts (l stitch) 7 Cut yarn and draw through remaining stitch. 8) Attach ears to hat so that the two inside corners meet in the centre of the hat.


Facial features:
1) Using pink make a French knot in the centre for the nose. 2) Make two French knots in yellow for the eyes. 3) Embroider a mouth on in white using back stitch. Your Cheshire Cat hat is complete!
