Pattern Notes
Change to DPN's when the stitches no longer fit comfortably on circularneedles. Each tier of rectangles will decrease by 1 stitch per rectangle.
Tier 1 Rectangles
First Rectangle With RS facing, pick up and knit 8 st along selvage edge of the first triangle. Turn. Row 1: sl1, p6, p2tog. Turn. Row 2: k8. Turn. Row 3: sl1, p6, p2tog. Turn. Repeat Rows 2-3 a total of 6 more times. Do not turn when the rectangle is completed. When picking up stitches in tiers 2-7, you will have 1 more stitch along the selvage edge than the number of stitches that will be picked up. Always skip the selvage stitch that is at the top of each rectangle (the end furthest from the brim of the hat). If you do not pick up the stitch at the base of each rectangle, it will leave a noticeablehole. Remaining Tier 1 Rectangles (Make 8) With WS facing, pick up and purl 8 stitches along selvage. Slip last picked up stitch to left needle and p2tog. Turn. Row 1: k8. Turn. Row 2: sl1, p6, p2tog. Turn. Repeat rows 1-2 six more times. Do not turn when rectangle is completed. If using a yarn such as Patons SWS as a substitute for Noro Silk Garden, increase your larger needle size to US10/6mmtoachieveasimilar amountofslouch.
