The make ityour own hat

This hat is very simple and fast to make great for scrap yarn use. This hat can be use with charts to add a design or logo, its perfect for variegated yarn and can be striped; joust use your creativity and make it your own.
Materials:
Worsted weight yarn of your choice 200 yards- 300yards circular Knitting needles:(us 7) 4.5 mm, (us 8) 5.00mm, double pointed needles in (8 us) 5.00mm Scissors, Tape measure, stich marker, Tapestry needle Abbreviations: Beg = beginning; K= knit; k2tog = knit next 2 stiches together; P = purl; Rem = remain; Rep = repeat; St = stich; Dpns= double pointed needles; Ssk = Slip next 2 stiches one at a time. Pass them back onto left hand needle, then knit through the back loops together. (wen I do this stich I like to pass the second loop purl wise.) Gauge: 17sts & 23 rows = 4"(10cm) in stoking knit stich.
Pattern:
Cast on 84 sts with the smaller needle. (place stich maker at beginning of row 1)
Brim of hat:
Row l: \*K2. p2. rep from to\* last st. (here you can do a K1. Pl if you like that look.) Rep. row 1, five (5) more times, or as many times you like to for a wider brim.
Body of the hat:
(Here you change to de bigger needle size) and change color if you desire. Row l: Knit until work from beg measures 6" or as long as you want it for a slouchy look. Shaping top of the hat: Row 1: K1. \*ssk. K16.k2tog. Rep from\* to last st Kl. For a total of 76 sts. Row 2 & alt rows: knit Row 3: K1. \*ssk. K14. K2tog.Rep from \* to the last. K1. (68) sts. Row 5: K1 \*ssk. K12. K2tog. Rep from\* to the last. K1 (60) sts. (Note: wen it's starts getting to small change to dpns.) Row 11l: K1\* ssk. K6. K2tog. Rep from\* to last st. K1 (36) sts. Row 13: K1\*ssk. K4. K2tog.Rep from\* to last st. K1 (28) sts. Rowl4: knit. Row15: k1\* ssk.K2. K2tog. Rep from\* to last st. K1 (20)sts. Last row: K1. \*K2tog. Rep from\*to last st. K1 (14) sts.you will end with k2 at the end of this row. Cut yarn; leave a long tail to sew the top of the hat and sew in all ends. and done.
