Worsted Weight yarn in 4 colors - a MC, a CC, Black and orange Size E for ribbing F for body Hook for Toddler (approx head size 18"-20") Size F for ribbing G for body Hook for a Child's hat (approx head size 19"-20") Size G for ribbing H for body Hook for Teen/Adult (approx head size 21"-23") TapestryNeedle stitch marker Pattern Notes: Gauge is done in sc colorwork and should be 5 sts X 5 rows for Toddler and Child 4 sts x 4 rows for Adult. When changing colors remember to complete the last st in color 1 with color 2. Pattern is written in US Crochet terms Hat is worked in continuous rounds except for the ribbing. Mark your first stitch with a stitch marker but DO NOT JoiN! Special Stitches: HDC Founation Chain: Instead of chaining the starting stitches you will do this technique. Chain 2 (this does NOT count as a HDC), yo, insert the hook into the first chain, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through one loop, yo, pull through all 3 loops. This has made you first HDC Foundation stitch. yo, insert hook into bottom V of stitch before, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pullthrough one loop, yo, pull though all 3 loops. Continue this for the amount specified. of the stitch below from front to back and front again, yo and draw up your loop, yo and pull through all the loops on the hook. BPHDC (Back Post Halfdouble Crochet) - yarn over,insert hook around the body of the stitch below from back to front and back again, yo and draw up your loop, yo and pull through all the loops on the hook. With MC, Make a HDC foundation of 90 and join in the round being careful not to twist. Rounds 1-2 ch2, (FPHDC, BPHDC) around, join You will no longer join the rounds. Break off yarn leaving a long tail. Thread through the remaining stitches twice and pulltight. You can add a tassel to the end for extra fun! Weave in ends and enjoy!
