It's A Wavy Winter
This scarf is knit entirely in garter stitch and incorporates both yarn-overs to create eyelets, and short rows for shaping the curves. I got the idea after making oodles of various cotton dish cloths for my daughter's bridal shower. This is an adaptation of a round one called SpinningWheel. I wouldgive credit to the original author but I really don't know whose it is. It is one of those old fashioned dish cloths everyone has seen for many years.
Materials:
- Pair of straight knitting needles size US #7 or #8. I find 6 inch DPN's are easier because they are so much shorter. Just add rubber stoppers on the ends and use like straight needles.

Row 13: Knit (18 sts total) Row 14: Bind off 3 sts, k 2, yo, k 5 (7 sts left), turn. Row 15: Knit (16 sts total) Row 16: K 3, yo, k 5 (8 sts left), turn. - Medium worsted weight yarn of your choice, 200 to 300 yds. Gauge is not critical to this pattern. However, knit yourself a small swatch in garter stitch to see if your needle size works well with your yarn choice. I have found that a smooth solid color yarn looks best to show off the eyelet pattern. Instructions: Cast on 15 sts. Row 1: Purl (15 sts total) Row 17: Knit (17 sts total) Row 18: K 3, yo, k 5 (9 sts left), turn. Row 19: Knit (18 sts total) Row 20: Bind off 3 sts, knit to end. Row 21: Knit (15 sts total) Repeat rows 2-21 twice. On the third time through rows 2-21, skip row 21. This total of 62 rows forms one semi-circle, or turn of the scarf. You are then ready to start again at row 2 to form the nextwave. Work left and right "waves" alternately until the scarf reaches your desired length. Work one more knit row and bind off knitways.
