Rolling Waves Headband
This comfy headband will keep your ears warm in winter! Gauge does not have to be exact - just make sure to use a yarn with some “give” so the headband can stretch comfortably around your head. A wavy cable is framed by ribbed crossed stitch cables and a seed stitch background. A provisional cast on allows the headband to be joined by a 3-needle bind off - no seaming required!

Yarn: Karabella Aurora 8, 100% Merino (98 yards/90 meters), 1 ball (I used about 2/3 of aball) Needles: US Size 7 (4.5mm) Gauge: exact gauge not critical, approximately 6 stitches per inch in pattern Size: Approximately 3 inches wide, 18 inches circumference (or size to fit head, leaving some negative ease to stretch) Other Materials - several yards of waste yarn Note that pattern starts on a wrong side row. Cross Stitch (CS): Skip first stitch on left needle (but leave in place) and knit into second stitch on the left needle. Then knit into the first stitch you had skipped. Slip the two stitches off the needle. Right Twist Cable (RTC): Slip 3 stitches onto a cable needle and hold in BACK, K3, then K3 off the cable needle Left Twist Cable (LTC): Slip 3 stitches onto a cable needle and hold in FRONT, K3, then K3 off the cable needle Stitch Pattern: Row 1 (WS) and all odd rows: K1, P3, K1, P7, K1, P3, K1, P1 Row 2 (RS): P1, K1, CS, P1, K1, RTC, P1, K1, CS, P1, K1 Rows 4, 6, 10, and 12: P1, K1, CS, P1, K7, P1, K1, CS, P1, K1 Row 8: P1, K1, CS, P1, K1, LTC, P1, K1, CS, P1, K1 Stitch Pattern Chart (Odd rows are WS, Even rows are right side - read WS rows left to right, and RS rows right to left)

Switch to project yarn and begin pattern with Row 1 (wrong side). Knit in pattern until you near desired length and then end with Row 9 - do not bind off yet! Remove the waste yarn from your cast on edge and place 18 stitches on a needle. Now the stitches from both edges should be on separate needles. Place the needles together so that the right sides of the headband face each other, and perform a three needle bind off. Weave in loose ends.
