Pattern notes
The finished acorn is approximately 9cm tall (not including the stalk) and 7cm wide. This pattern is worked flat on straight 4mm needles for all pieces, except for the stalk which is i-cord knitted on two 4mm DPNs. When sewing together, use mattress stitch to sew the seams and hide any knots or yarn tails inside the finished acorn. The tension and yarn are given as a guide, but don't feel constrained to use the same yarn for your toys. You can use a similar weight yarn in your preferred texture and colour, or use a different needle size if you prefer. Please note that the pattern is knitted on a needle a few sizes smaller than that recommended on the yarn band, to create a denser knit fabric for your pincushion. To keep the Berry Woods clean and green, the yarn for this pattern was sourced from charity shops and thrift stores to help reduce waste and landfill. To save paper and your printing costs, some of the instructions are abbreviated.
