Gauge:
Rib: 42 stitches / 28 rows = 10 cm (4 inches) Pattern hold loosely: 20 stitches / 28 rows = 10 cm (4 inches) (although gauge isn't very important)
Pattern stitches:
1P Main pattern: work as shown on chart below. On the wrong side knit into the knit stitches and purl into the purl stitches; purl into the yarn over and knit into the yarn over purlwise.
Directions:
Cast on 40 stitches. First row (wrong side): edging stitch, \*p2 k2\* (repeated), p2, edging stitch. Work 65 rows with ribbing pattern. Main pattern: Rows 1 - 56: work as shown on the chart, repeat from row 21 until row 56 and continue until row 74. Work 36 rows with the ribbing pattern, 74 rows of the main pattern (rows 1 - 74, without repeating), 36 rows with the ribbing pattern, then work main pattern as shown on the chart until row 56, repeat rows 21 - 56, and continue until row 74. Work 65 rows with ribbing pattern. Bind off loosely. Weave in ends.
