Pattern:
co 110 sts using cc yarn. Join in round as you start working the following step.
First, you will work a 2x2 rib:
\*k2, p2\* to last 2 sts, k2. pm. Work 16 rounds total like this or until rib measures approximately 2 inches. (DON'T pm after the first round, just keep that first marker you placed on your needles for the rest of the pattern.)
Next:
Continuing in cc yarn, k all sts. for 2 rounds total. Join in mc yarn and cut cc yarn, leaving a 4-6" tail to weave in. Using mc yarn, k all sts. for 14 rounds total.

Now the first round of decreases to start the crown:
Continuing in mc yarn, \*k9, k2tog, pm\* to last 11 sts, k9, k2tog. Now follow the step below until 10 sts. remain on the needles, switching to double point needles when necessary: \*k to 2 sts before marker, k2tog.\* Repeat to end of round.
