Mitered Hot Pads

Materials:
Worsted weight washable wool or cotton yarn: 1/4 skein (do not use acrylic yarn, although washable, exposure to extreme heat could cause this yarn to melt) US 7 circular needles SizeG crochethook
Gauge:
25 sts x 24 rows = 4 inches
Instructions:
CO 80(100) sts. Join into a circle, taking care not to twist. K K all sts in-the-round for 4(6)inches. [for 2-color version, K 2(3) inches in color 1 and K2(e) inches in color 2. BO.
Finishing:
Fold circle of knitting in half and lay flat. Stitch top edges Together. Open circle of knitting and lay with stitched edges Flat on underside of knitted circle. Pulling the remaining open edges together on top, stitch them together in the opposite direction of the previous seam. This will create a flat, double-thickness square.


Hang Loop:

Using the crochet hook, attach yarn to hot pad 1 inch from the corner. CH16 sts and attach 1 inch from corner on opposite side. Turn and SC20 into chained loop. Tie off and weave in yarn ends.
