Abbreviations:

K - Knit P - Purl Tog - Together St st - stocking stitch St - stitches YO - Wrap yarn over the needle You will need some yellow and green DK yarn. NOTE: It is the wrong side of the knitting that looks most like a pineapple.

Pineapple body

Using 4mm needles cast on 32 stitches in yellow. Row 1 - K1 Row 2 - (P3tog, P1 K1 P1 into the same stitch) repeat to end of row. Row 3 - Knit all stitches Row 4 - (P1 K1 P1 into the same stitch, P3tog) repeat to end of row. Row 5 - Knit all stitches Repeat rows 2 to 5, twice more. Row 14 - (P3tog, P1) repeat to end of row (16 stitches) Row 15 - K2tog 8 times(8st) Row 16 - P2tog 4 times(4st) Fasten off by threading yarn through 4st and drawing tight.

Leaves

Small leaves

In green cast on 3 stitches Row 1 - K1, YO,K1, YO, K1 (5 st) Row 2 - Purl all the stitches Row 3 - K3, YO, K1, YO, K1 (7 st) Row 4 - Cast off 4 st and knit to end (3 st) Repeat Rows 1 to 4 once more and then rows 1 to 3 again Next Row - Cast off all stitches

Large leaves

In green cast on 5 st Row 1 - K3, YO,K1, YO, K1 (7 st) Row 2 - Purl all the st Row 3 - K5, YO, K1, YO, K1 (9 st) Row 4 - Cast off 4 stitches and knit to end (5 st) Repeat Rows 1 to 4 once more and then rows 1 to 3 again Next Row - Cast off all stitches

Making Up

Sew up pineapple. Roll up the large leaves and sew together, roll up the small leaves and sew together. Put the large leaves inside the tube formed by the small leaves and sew to the top of the pineapple. Don't forget to arrange the leaves at a jaunty angle.
