COFFEE MUG COZY
By Terry Liann Morris - SailingKnitter Knit up a little ribbed sweater for your coffee/tea mugs to keep the brew steaming hot. Choose team colors, or neutrals to give the men in your life a little beverage comfort. The enclosed bottom of the cozy also prevents coffee rings on your furniture or knitting books!

Materials & Supplies
50yds/45m Sport weight yarn - sample knit with Cascade Fixation $98\%$ Cotton, $2\%$ Elastic US Size 5 double point needles Gauge 6 st per $1^{\prime\prime}$ (2.5cm) over ribbing pattern Sizes Medium $3^{\prime\prime}$ outside mug diameter, (Large $3\,\%^{\prime\prime}$ outside mug diameter) 2 x 2 Ribbing Pattern: (k2, p2) repeat to end of round (row). Body Cast on 56, (64) and Join to knit in the round Work in $_{2\times2}$ ribbing pattern for 3 rounds Round 4 - Divide for cup handle opening: Bind off 4 stitches at beginning of this round. Continue in $_{2\times2}$ ribbing pattern to end of round. Turn, and begin knitting back and forth as follows: Each row: s1, k1, p2, \*(k2, p2)\* repeat pattern between \* and \* to end of row. Continue working back and forth in this manner until piece measures $3\,\%^{\prime\prime}$ from cast on edge. Next row: At beginning of row, cast on 4 stitches using either the cable or knitted cast on method. Work row in 2x2 Ribbing Pattern. Join to resume knitting in the round. Work 3rounds in $_{2\times2}$ RibbingPattern.

For Large Mug only: (K6, K2tog) 8 times $=56$ stitches Next round: Knit Continue with instructions for both sizes below. Both Sizes: Next round: (k5, k2tog) 8 times $=$ 48 sts Next round: knit Next round: (k4, k2tog) 8 times $=$ 40 sts Next round: knit Next round: (k3, k2tog) 8 times $=32$ sts Next round: knit Next round: (k2, k2tog) 8 times $=24$ sts Next round: knit Next round: (k1, k2tog) 8 times $=$ 16 sts Next round: knit Next round: K2tog 8 times $=8$ sts Next round: knit Next round: k2tog 4 times $=4$ sts. Cut yarn and thread through the remaining 4 stitches. Gather stitches together and weave in ends securely.Enjoy!
