\*\*Pattern for Alex's Legwarmers\*\*

I was looking for a way to protect my son Alex from the cold. His pants were always moving up on his legs leaving a naked skin space between his boots and pant edges. So I came up with the following legwarmer pattern to keep him warm. You can adjust the number of stitches and length to fit the legs of your little ones.
Material:
- 4mm (Us 6) double-pointed needles (you can use circular ones too if you prefer) - Red Heart With Love, 100% Acrylic color Blue Hawaii and Chocolate (less than a quarter each). It is also a good project to finish your yarn leftovers :)
Gauge:
Don't really matter as long as it fits the legs of your little one. My son is one year old and is quite tall for his age. I casted on 36 stitches and I obtained around 3.3cm length by knitting all stitches in round for 10 rows.
Directions:
1) Using Chocolate yarn, cast on 36 stitches on three doubled-pointed needles and start knitting in round taking care not to twist the work on the first row. You can place a marker to indicate the beginning of the row if you wish. Start by repeating the following pattern for ribbing: Row 1: (knit two, purl two), repeat until the end of the row Repeat Row 1 another 9 times. 2) Change yarn with the Blue Hawai yarn and knit all stitches for 4 rows, then change color to Chocolate and knit another 4 rows. Change to Blue Hawaii again and knit 4 more rows. To avoid any jog in your stripes when you change color, you may want to use the following tutorial : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdYUr2LruLE 3) Change color one last time to Chocolate and knit until the length of the legwarmer is good for your little one. Personally, I knitted around 10cm (excluding the ribs). 4) Repeat Row 1 ten times to complete the legwarmer with the final ribs. Bind off very loosely. You can use Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off technique : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abBhe-JYmgl 5) Weave in all ends et voila! :) You can adjust number of stitches and length for babies of different ages or even for adult sizes.
