GRIDDLE NECK TUBE

This neck tube incorporates both loom knitting and crocheting. The tube is loom knitted for a seamless look and the ban is crocheted in Griddle Stitch. Tube snugly fits an adult head, and definitely blocks the Montana wind from the head and ears!

Loom Hook N/10mm Crochet hook Stitch markers Large blunt tip needle 1sz “K" crochet hook

Gauge:

Gauge (Stocking Stitch over 4 in = 10 cm): 9.0sts by 12.0 rows. Note: Read ALL these instructions thoroughly BEFORE starting to knit. Place stitch marker to indicate every 10 rows to assist in counting.

MY = main yarn CY = contrasting yarn sc = single crochet dc = double crochet st = stitch Slst = slip stitch

Special Stitch Used:

Griddle Stitch (GS): This pattern is worked on any multiple of 2sts +2. Row 1: \*1sc in next st, 1dc in following st; repeat from \* around. Row 2: If last stitch in previous row was sc, ch3 (counts as 1" dc); skip 1 st, \* 1sc into next dc, 1dc into next sc; repeat from \* around. Row 2: If last stitch in previous row was dc, work sc into top of same st; \* 1dc into next sc, 1sc into next dc; repeat from \* around. Repeat row 2 for pattern.

Loosely wrap each peg in a counterclockwise direction with the yarn crossing on the inside of the loom. 3. Wrapping each peg again a second time and knit off. (Each peg may also be wrapped and knitted off individually - this reduces the tendency to pull yarn too tight.) 4. Continue knitting until 53 rows have been completed. a. Using sz N/10mm crochet hook, place last wrap on crochet hook. b. Place loop from next peg on crochet hook; wrap yarn from back to front over top of crochet hook (yarn over); pull through both loops. c.Yarn over and pull through again. d. Repeat b-c, until last peg remains; place wrap on crochet hook and pull through. e. Cut yarn leaving 6in tail, pull yarn completely thru to fasten off. Weave in all loose ends.

Band:

1. Using CY, attach yarn to same side as crocheted bind off; sc in each stitch around. Slst to join. Place stitch marker to indicate beginning of round. 2. Beginning with chain 2 & dc in same st; follow GS instructions around, do not join. 3. Continue rounds until band measures 2". 4. Cut yarn, leaving a 6' tail. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
