Newborn / Baby(0 - 9 months) - 31 peg loom
Hat
all the pegs using 2 worsted weight strands of yarn as 1 strand OR using 1 strand of bulky weight yarn 1.Ewrap 2 and purl 1 for 5 rows. Ewrap the extra peg at the end (#31) 2. Ewrap the rest of the hat until it measures 6.5 inches for a newborn or 7 inches for 3 - 9 months Bind off by pulling the needle through pegs 1& 2, hold the yarn behind pegs 3 & 4, needle through pegs 5 & 6, hold the yarn behind pegs 7& 8, and continue around the loom. Once all the way around put the needle through all of the stitches you didn't go through the first time. Pull off the loom and pull yarn to close. Knot off and weave in ends.
Antenna
For the antenna, take 2 pieces of black pipecleaner and twist them together. Then insert one end slightly to the left of the crown, and insert the other end slightly to the right of the crown. To make a pompom wrap black yarn around a 3" wide piece of cardboard 75 times. Pull off the cardboard and wrap it around the center of the looped yarn pulling tightly. Knot and cut the loops. Fluff out the pompom and trim to make it even and the size you want. For a fluffier pompom just wrap more times. Untwist the top inch of each pipecleaner end and use that to wrap around the pompom to secure it to the hat. Note: The pompoms will weight down on the pipecleaners so you will have to adjust the pipecleaners by bending them to get them to sit properly on the hat when being worn.
Eyes, Mouth, Dots
Cut 2 ovals out of the white felt and stitch them to the hat. Stitch on your two buttons to the eyes. Cut out multiple black dots and stitch them on the hat to create the polka dots. Finally, stitch on a mouth to the hat.
