Bell Flower Boogie

This is a toe-up sock in two sizes. The 60 stitch sock (pink) was knit from Araucania Ranco, $3.5\ 0z$ (100 gm) 376yds $(344{\mathrm{~m}})$ . The 68 stitch sock (blue) was knit from Schoeller+Stahl Fortissima Socka with bamboo 3.5 oz (100 gm) 436 yds $(400\;\mathsf{m})$
Gauge:
Ranco: 31 stitches, 47 rows over $4"$ (10 cm) on $2.25\;\mathrm{mm}$ needles Fortissima: 36 stitches, 48 rows 0ver $4"$ (10 cm) on $2.25\:\mathrm{mm}$ needles. Make One (M1) - Right Leaning: Insert the left needle from back to front into the horizontal strand between the last stitch worked and the next stitch on the left needle. Knit this strand through the front loop to twist the stitch. Make One (M1) - Left Leaning: Insert the left needle from front to back into the horizontal strand between the last stitch worked and the first stitch on the left needle. Knit this strand through the back loop to twist it. Kf&b: knit into front and back of stitch. Toe: Using a provisional cast on, cast on 24 (32) stitches, 12 (16) for each needle. Round 1: knit Round 2: k1, kf&b, knit to last stitch, kf&b, k1 Repeat these two rounds until you have 60 (68) stitches, 30 (34) per needle. Work between red lines for 60 stitch sock [stitches 3-32] and all stitches for 68 stitch sock.
Foot:
Knit the 14 rows of the Foundation Chart once. Needle 1: Knit foundation chart Needle 2: knit After knitting the Foundation Chart, follow the Bell Flower Chart on needle 1 until foot measures about 3" less than the total foot length (I knit 6 1/4"). Begin gusset.
Gusset:
Round 1: Needle 1 - knit in pattern; Needle 2 - k1, M1 (left leaning), knit to 1 stitch before end, M1 (right leaning), k1. Round 2: Needle 1 - knit in pattern; Needle 2 - knit across all stitches. Repeat these 2 rounds until you have 50 (58) stitches on Needle 2.
Turn the heel:
You will only be working on Needle 2. Row 1: k34 (40), M1, k1, w&t; Row 2: p20 (24), M1, k1, w&t Row 3: k18 (22), M1, k1, w&t Row 4: p16 (20), M1, k1, w&t Row 5: k14 (18), M1, k1, w&t Row 6: p12 (16), M1, k1, w&t Row 7: k10 (14), M1, k1, w&t Row 8: p8 (12), M1, k1, w&t Knit to end of heel stitches, picking up wraps (you can also leave the wraps, it hardly shows if you do not pick them up), work 1 row across top of foot (Needle 1) in pattern, now you will work the heel flap, only working on Needle 2.
Heel flap:
Row 1: K43 (49) [picking up wraps - or not], ssk, turn Row 2: Sl1, p28 (32), p2tog, turn Row 3: Sl1, k28 (32), ssk, turn - Since the heel is worked in stockinette stitch, it does make a generous heel, for a tighter fit, knit a slip stitch pattern on Row 3: Sl1, [k1 sl1] 16 times (as on the blue socks). Continue with rows 2 and 3 for a total of 27 (31) rows for the 60 (68) stitch sock. On last knit row aftersskDONOT TURN. Now continue onto Needle 1, pick up 1 stitch (this is to fill the gap between the bottom of the foot and the top), work across in pattern, pick up 1 stitch at very end. Needle 2, k2tog (this completes the heel flap), knit to end. Needle 1 - p2tog, knit in pattern to 2 stitches before end and p2tog - this eliminates the extra stitches used to fill the gaps. When the pattern on Needle 1 is at Row 1 of the Bell Flower Chart, begin Row 1 of the Foundation Chart on Needle 2 (while continuing with the Bell Flower Chart on Needle 1). (On the pink socks I knit stockinette stitch on the heel flap until I reached Row 1, on the blue sock I worked garter stitch until reaching Row 1). Once you have completed the Foundation Chart on Needle 2, continue with the Bell Flower Chart on both needles until you are about 1" from desired length for leg AND after ending row 14 - now switch to Ending Chart. After the last row of the Ending Chart, you will knit a few rows of garter stitch with a few knit stitches, decreasing every few rows for a snugger fit, as follows: Row 1: knit Row 2: p7 (p9), k1, p14, k1, p5 p7 (p9) Row 3: knit Row 4: p5 (p7), p2tog, k1, p14, k1, p2tog, p5 (p7) Row 5: knit Row 6: p6 (p8), k1, p14, k1, p6 (p8) Row 7: knit Row 8: p6 p(p8), k1, p6, p2tog, p6, k1, p6 (p8) Row 9: knit Row 10: purl Row 11: BO (l used a stretchy bind off, knit 2, place 2 stitches back onto left needle, k2tog through back loop, [knit 1, place those 2 stitches back onto left needle, k2tog through back loop] repeat brackets until all stitches are bound off.
