Techniques and stitch patterns:
ribbing (k1, p1) stranded stockinette stitch knitting in the round Size: to fit head circumference 54-56 cm Materials: Aade Long Solid 8/2 (400 m / 100 gr ) color White (color A, white in chart) and Aade Long Artistic 8/2 (color B, blue in chart) Circular needles 2.5 mm (US1) for the cuff and 3.25 mm (US3) for the stranded part, 40 and 60 cm (16 and 24") long. Gauge for the stranded part: 22 sts and 30 rounds = 10 cm (4"x4") with (US3) needles
Instructions:
The beret is worked in one piece from the bottom up in the round. With US1 needles and in color A, using the Italian cast-on method, cast-on 136 sts, then work k1, p1 ribbing for 4 rows. Join to round without twisting and continue working in k1, p1 ribbing in the round. When piece has reached a height of 2.5 cm (1") from cast on edge, increase 56 sts around for a new total of 192 sts. For even distribution of increases, increase in those spots where symbol V is shown in Chart 1. Continue working Fair Isle pattern from Chart 2 with US3 (pattern repeat of 24 sts has to be worked 8 times in all).
