9" square: Ww yarn, size 7 (4.5mm) needle Center Mitered Square Cable CO 31 sts 1. k across, turn 2. k1ttb (through the back), k 13, sl2tog KW (knitwise), k 1, psso (pass slipped sts over), k 13, yf (yarn forward), sl last st PW (purl-wise), turn. 3. k1ttb, k to center decrease st, p 1, k to last st, yf, sl last st Pw, turn. 4. k1ttb, k to one st before center st, sl2tog KW, k1, PSSO, k to last st, yf, sl last st PW, turn.
Repeat rows 3 and 4 until three sts remain, end off Center color and change to First Log color, k3tog, keep last st on needle.
First Log
Right-side facing, PU&k (pick-up and knit) 14 sts, cable CO 15 sts, turn. (30 sts) 1. p across, turn. 2. k across, turn. )eat rows 1 and 2 a total of 10 times. (20 rows, not counting PU&k row). BO Second, Third and Fourth Logs Right-side facing and using next Log color, PU&k 15 sts along center square and 15 sts along side of First (Second, Third) Log. Continue as for First Log. Note for Fourth Log: After BO, leave long tail to sew short end of Fourth Log to unattached half of First Log.
