Sunglass Sock
E.B.Fouts-Palmer Drawstring pouch worked in basketweave stitch. The all-over texture looks fantastic in a selfstriping yarn, which makes this a great way to use up leftover sock yarn. Originally designed as a sunglass case, but the length is easily adjusted to fit a camera, cell phone, deck of cards, etc. Enjoy! Skills needed: Knitting and purling in the round, ssk, yo, cast on for toe-up socks, twisted cord.
Finished Measurements
3" (8 cm) wide and 7 3/" (19 cm) long (or desired length).
Materials
Approximately 70 yards fingering weight yarn. Sample shown used 15g of ONline Supersocke 100 in “Wellness". One set US 1.5 (2.5 mm) double-pointed needles, or size needed to obtain gauge. Stitch marker Tapestry needle

Gauge
17 sts = 2"' / 5 cm in basketweave pattern (see below). Row gauge is not critical for this project.
Basketweave Pattern
Worked over a multiple of four stitches Rounds 1-3: \*K2, p2; repeat from \* around. Rounds 4-5: Knit all sts Rounds 6-8: \*P2, k2; repeat from \* around. Rounds 9-10: Knit all sts
Sunglass Case
CO 48 sts using your preferred toe-up cast on method. I used Judy's Magic Cast on (from http:// knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/FEATmagiccaston.html). PM for beginning of round. Round 1: Knit all sts. Work in basketweave pattern (see above) until case is desired length, ending with round 3 or 8. To determine the desired length, just pop in whatever you plan on keeping in the case. The piece should extend about /\* (2 cm) beyond your sunglasses/phone/pet chipmunk/etc. to allow room for the drawstring to close. In the sample shown, the eyelet row was worked after 6 3/"' (17 cm). Eyelet round: \*SSK, yo; repeat from \* around. Next round: Knit all sts. Work in 1x1 ribbing (\*k1, p1; repeat from \* around) until work measures /2" (1.5 cm) past eyelet round. Bind off all sts in ribbing.
Finishing
Weave in all ends. Cut two 48" (120 cm) pieces of yarn. Twist together tightly and fold in half to make a 24" (60 cm) twisted cord. Knot ends of cord to prevent unravelling. Thread cord through eyelet round and tie in slipknot or bow to close case.
