Knitting Pattern for a Seamless Baby Vest with Detailed Instructions and Techniques

Seamless baby vest

Pattern illustration

Size: 0-6 months Description: The vest is knitted upside down. I make the whole vest on a circular needle, but you can use other needles when you make the upper parts if you like. You begin with the upper part of the back, then you continue with the upper part of the front. The two parts are joined below the armhole. When the front parts with button and buttonholes are made you proceed in the round on the circular needle or double-pointed needles. Tecniques: knit, purl, crochet chain provisorial cast-on, cable cast-on, magic loop (or double-pointed needles), stretchy bind-off, Kitchener stitches

If the yarn is a little thicker and the gauge 23-25 stitches, you can make the vest a few centimeters longer, and it will be size 6-9 months. With gauge 26-28 stitches the yardage is approx 175 m. Usually 50 g will be enough. The young mamas say SUPERWASH, please. Needles: A circular needle 80 cm or more or double-pointed needles no 3 (US21/2), crochet hook approx no 3 Pattern: Double rib: K2, P2. On wrong side you do what the stitches show. When the pattern says xx stitches in double rib you always start with K2 unless anything else is specified. Also if you have just knitted other stitches. The pattern is written this way to make it easier to figure out the elements of the pattern. Always do the specified number of double rib stitches no matter if the last stitches are knitted or purled and no matter if you are going on knitting or purling. Abbreviations: CO = cast on db rib = double rib K = knit P = purl R = row sts = stitches RS = right side ssk = slip, slip, knit (decrease 1) WS = wrong side yo= yarn over needle

Finishing

Assemble the straps: Pick up without knitting the 14 sts from provisorial cast on the right front. Undo the crochet chain. Do the same with the corresponding back sts. Close the strap using kitchener stitch. Do the same on the left side. Weave in ends. Sew two buttons on the right front. Wash and block slightly.
