Effervescence
By iKnit2Purl2 A quick and easy sock pattern that uses a mock cable stitch to create a fun ribbed sock. The placement of the stitches alternates over 8 stitches which provide a bubbly, effervescent look! The pattern is easy to memorize...only 8 stitches over 4 rows!

Pattern

Cuff and Leg:
Cast-on 64 stitches. Divide among 4 needles as follows: 16 stitches on Needle #1, 16 stitches on Needle #2, 16 stitches on Needle #3 and 16 stitches on Needle #4. Join in the round being careful not to twist stitches. K2, P2 for 10 rows. Set up row for Leg: K1 YO K1 P2 K2 P2)\* \* Repeat to end Continue with pattern above starting with Row 2 for 56 rows or until you reach desired length. End with Row4 of Pattern
Prepare for Heel Flap:
Knit in across Needle #1 and Needle #2 as follows. Sl 1, K3, K2tog, (K7 K2tog)3times, K3 Place these 32 stitches on one needle (These will be the heel stitches). Next Row: Sl1, P to end
Heel Flap
Starting on the front side: Row 1: \* (Sl 1, K 1)\* Repeat from \* to end (Turn to back) Row 2: Sl 1, P to end (Turn to front) Repeat Rows 1 & 2 14 times for a total of 28 rows ending with Row 2. Page 2 of 4

Set up Gusset:
Begin by working across heel stitches as follows: K10 onto first Needle K10 onto next needle and pick up 19 stitches along side (18 in the Selvage stitches and one in the corner) (will be now known as Needle #1) Knit stitches from next 2 needles in Pattern (should start with Row 1) Keep these stitches on 2 needles (now known as Needle 3 & Needle 4) Pick up 17 stitches (one on corner and 16 in the selvage stitches and K10 stitches (previous knitted in this section) onto the next needle. (will be now known as Needle #4) Now you will have 29 stitches on Needle 1, 18 stitches on Needle 2, 18 stitches on Needle 3 and 27 stitches on Needle 4. (92 stitches total)
Gusset:
Row 1: On Needle 1, Knit in stockinette stitch until the last 5 stitches, K2tog, K1, P2 On Needle 2 & 3, Knit all stitches in Pattern as established On Needle 4, K1, SSK, Knit remaining stitches in stockinette stitch Row 2: On Needle 1, Knit in stockinette stitch until the last 2 stitches, P2 On Needle 2 & 3, Knit all stitches in Pattern as established On Needle 4, Knit all stitches in stockinette stitch Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until there are 18 stitches on Needle 1 and 16 stitches on Needle 4. Foot:
Knit as follows: On Needle 1, Knit in stockinette stitch until the last 2 stitches, P2 On Needle 2 & 3, Knit all stitches in Pattern as established On Needle 4, Knit all stitches in stockinette stitch until foot (measured from back of heel) is 2 inches shorter than desired length. (End with Row 4 of Pattern) Next Row: (Keep stitches on needles as established). Knit 22, K2tog, (K7, K2tog) 3 times, Knit 19. Slip last stitch from Needle 1 onto Needle 2 so now you have 17 stitches on Needle 1, 17 stitches on Needle 2, 16 stitches on Needle 3, 16 stitches 0n Needle 4. Toe: Row 1: On Needle 1, Knit until the last 3 stitches, K2tog, K1 On Needle 2, K1, SSK, Knit remaining stitches On Needle 3, Knit until the last 3 stitches, K2tog, K1 On Needle 4, K1, SSK, Knit to end Row2: Knit all stitches Repeat Rows 1 and 2 unitl 30 stitches remain. With Needle 4, Knit across 8 stitches on Needle 1. Slide stitches from Needle 2 to Needle 3. There are now 15 stitches on both remaining needles. maining stitches together using the Kitchener stitch (and your tapestry needle).
Finishing:
Weave in loose ends with tapestry needle. Knit second sock.
