PEEK-A-BOO INFINITY COWL

By Shyama Nivas
The Chevron stitch is oft used and is a beautiful peek-a-boo creation. Using this super stitch - a simpl one line repeat pattern, one can create a whole wardrobe. Here is my Infinity Scarf using the Chevron Stitch. An Infinity Scarf is just a simple scarf, continuous, or without ends, which can be looped around your neck. It is lovely, hassle-free, and can be worn in a multitude of ways. As the Chevron stitch is a pretty, delicate stitch, any fingering / light-weight yarn works well. Yarn used : 3 ply acrylic ; 50g (285 yds approx) Hook : 4mm (US 6) Circumference : 48" x 5.5" Skill Level: Intermediate Gauge : 20 dc (across, in Chevron stitch pattern) and 9 rows (vertical, in Chevron pattern) = 4" Abbreviations used: (Pattern uses US terminology) fsc : Foundation Single Crochet rep : Repeat dc : Double Crochet sk : Skip st:Stitch sp : Space ch : Chain With this scarf, gauge is not important - it is only as a guide. Check your gauge after 9-10 rows in Chevron stitch pattern. The pattern and final length and width of the scarf depend on you. @ Copyright 2013, Shyama Nivas, All Rights Reserved. Start with 30 fsc Row 1: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc, now and throughout pattern), dc into the next 4 fsc, \*sk 2 fsc, dc into next 4 fsc, 2 ch, dc in next 4 fsc\*, rep once, sk 2 fsc, dc in next 3 fsc, 2 dc in last fsc, Turn. (26 dc, five ch-2 spaces - i.e : four blocks of 4 dc each, with 2 blocks of 5 dc each end) Row 2 : ch 3, 1 dc into the same st, \* dc into the next 3 dc, sk 2 dc, dc in next 3 dc, 1 dc in ch-2 sp, ch 2, 1 dc in same ch-2 sp\*, rep from \* to\* once more, dc in next 3 dc, sk 2 dc, dc in the last 3 dc, 2 dc in last dc. Turn (26 dc, five ch-2 spaces - i.e : four blocks of 4 dc each, with 2 blocks of 5 dc each end) Repeat Row 2 till you reach desired length. Finishing : ch 1 (counts as an sc), sc in each dc and ch-2 sp till end (30 sc) Join the two ends to make a continuous scarf - or the Infinity scarf. Note : As this pattern has 'waves' (or a “v" pattern) , joining is a bit tricky. Please pin your work to get an even finish. Weave in ends. Block before use, according to yarn instructions.
