stockinette stitch, seed stitch, simple lace chart, knit in the roun( material: Aran or chunky yarn (shown in madelinetosh tosh chunky,color way- Edwardian velvet) 200 yards in the bottom of picture. Handspun sport (220 yards)in top of picture. us size 9 - 5.5 mm. circular needles or size to obtain correct gauge. Stitch marker. Finished Measurements : 12"/30cm. Gauge: 3.5 to 4.0 sts = 1 inch. in stockinette stitch. To save time, take time to check gauge. Notes : this pattern can be used with highly variegated yarn or solids e cowl is one size but if need extra length you can add a 10 st. repeat seed stitch : 1 row- k1,p1 and repeat to the end. next row alternate- knit the purl st. and purl the knit st. repeat 2 rows. When knitted flat, seam the cowl edges.
INSTRUCTIONS
40 st. ( optional: if needed extra length you can add multiple of 10 sts join in a round, careful not to twist ends. [place st. marker for beginning of round.] row 1-4:Do 4 rows in seed st. [1 row: k1,p1 and repeat.next row alternate knit the purl st. and purl the knit st. repeat 2 rows.] row 5-8:then 4 rows in stockinette st. row 9-12:4 rows of lace chart. (see chart included). row 13-16:then 4 rows in stockinette st. row 17-24:8 rows of lace chart. (see chart included). row 25-28:then 4 rows in stockinette st. row 29-32:4 rows of lace chart. (see chart included). row 33-36:then 4 rows in stockinette st. row 37-40:4 rows in seed st. BO all st. wet block your new cowl.
