Moonchild
aka The Sockformerly known as It's a Mystery Sock KAL designed by Adrienne Fong Like the Child Empress of Fantasia (The Neverending. Story), the sock needed to be named. Bastian shouted her name out,“MOONCHILD."

Sock knit with Crystal Palace Yarns Panda Wool (Ultramarine) shown with “I'm So Jazzed" Heel and “Fancy Toe" Size: Woman's medium ( $8^{\circ}$ ankle) / large (9' ankle) Materials: 100 gm fingering wt yarn (see note if using Crystal Palace Yarns or other low yardage brands) US size 1.5 needles $\left(2.5\mathrm{mm}\right)$ or size to get gauge Size 8/o beads (optional) Stitch Markers Tapestry Needle Gauge: 8 sts and 11 rows/inch in stockinette Abbreviations: PM - place marker slip - slip 1 as if to purl, unless otherwise stated tbi - through back ioop yo - yarn-over k2tog/p2tog - knit/purl 2 stitches together ssk - slip 1 stitch as if to knit, slip another stitch as if to purl. Color 11 $(<)$ : see chart notes or written instructions for Round 20 of Pattern Stitch for Leg for explanation. Finished measurements for medium size: $7\,3/4"$ leg (blocked and relaxed) $\mathrm{7\,\mathbf{1}/2"}$ foot (blocked and relaxed) 6 1/2" leg length
Notes:
When two numbers are given, the first applies to medium size and the second to the large size. If you are using Panda Wool or another yarn with similar lesser yardage, you may need 3 balls of yarn for the LARGE size socks For a woman's size small, it is recommended that you knit the medium size using needles one size smaller . The size of the sock can be adjusted by using a needle ONE size smaller or larger. Unless you are very experienced, knitting 2 at time on 2 circs or on magic loop is not recommended. If you want a little sparkle to your socks, beads may be added on rounds 2 (? maybe), 4, 6 in column 6 instead of the kitbl and then rounds 8 (maybe?), 10, & 12 in column 1 instead of the kitbl. I would use size 8/o beads.
Cuff:
Using the German twisted cast on, loosely cast on 60 (70) sts. Join, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place marker to indicate beginning of round. [Knit one round, purl one round] twice. Knit one more round. Work rounds 1-4 of Pattern Stitch for Cuff twice. Work round 1 once more.
Work rounds 1-32 of Pattern for Leg once. Work rounds 1-31 of Pattern for Leg once more.

Heel Flap: You have a choice between 3 different heelflaps. Heel will be worked over 31 (37) sts. Place 29 (33) instep stitches on holder. Heel flap is worked back and forth. Work the heel flap of your choice. Plain and Simple: all sizes Row 1 (Right Side): slip 1, p1, \*slip 1, k1; repeat from \* to last 3 sts, ending with slip 1, p1, k1. Fancy Toe:
Continue working as established (pattern stitches for instep on instep and stockinette on the sole) until foot measures approximately 2 3/4 (3) inches less than desired foot length, ending on round 4 of pattern stitch. Note: if your row gauge is different than given, you may need to change when you start the “fancy" toe. There are 38 rows (28 rounds for motif $\dotplus$ 10plain rounds) from the start of the toe motif to the end of the sock. You will need to figure out many inches your $38$ rows equal. You will start your toe motif that many inches less than your desired foot length. Knit to first instep marker. K1, work rounds 1-28 of Instep/Toe Motif once on 29 (33) instep stitches, k1. Work stockinette on sole. At the same time, when foot is $_1\,\%$ (2) inches less than desired foot length, begin toe. Toe: Second instep marker indicates new beginning of round.
