Bodice

Using 8ply/DK yarn and 4mm needles Cast on 49 stitches. Row 1- K8, pm, k9, pm, k15, pm, k9, pm, k8. Row 2 - k to one stitch before marker, kfb, sm, kfb, knit to 1 stitch before marker, kfb, sm, kfb, k to 1 stitch before marker, kfb, sm, kfb, k to 1 stitch before marker, kfb, sm, kfb, k to end of row. Rows 3, 5,7, 9 & 11 - k4, purl to last 4 stitches, k4. Rows 4 - k2, yo, k2tog, knit to 1 stitch before marker, kfb, sm, kfb, knit to 1 stitch before marker, kfb, sm, kfb, k to 1 stitch before marker, kfb, sm, kfb, k to 1 stitch before marker, kfb, sm, kfb, k to end of row. Row 6, 8, 10 & 12- k to one stitch before marker, kfb, sm, kfb, knit to 1 stitch before marker, kfb, sm, kfb, k to 1 stitch before marker, kfb, sm, kfb, k to 1 stitch before marker, kfb, sm, kfb, k to end ofrow. You will have 97 stitches. Row 13 - K4, purl to first marker, knit to second marker, purl to third marker, knit to fourth marker, purl to last 4 stitches, k4. Row 14 - Knit to first marker (Remove all markers as you come to them.) Using Picot Cast Off, cast off the stitches between the two markers. Knit across back to next marker, picot cast off stitches between markers, knit to end of row. Row 15 - k4, purl to arm hole, using reverse loop cast on, cast on 2 stitches, purl across back, cast on 2 stitches, purl to last 4 stitches, k4.

You should have 59 stitches.

Rows 16 - K2, yo, knit to end of row. Rows 17 & 19 - k4, purl to last 4 stitches, k4. Row 18 - knit across.

Body of Cardigan

If you want to change colour, do so now. Row 1- K15, pm, k14, pm, k1, pm, k14, pm, k15 Row 2 and every other row until row 12 - knit 4, purl to last 4 stitches, k4. Row 3 - knit to marker, m1, sm, knit to 4 stitches before next marker, bring yarn forward, slip the next 9 stitches (as if to purl), bring yarn to the back, Making sure that the yarn across the front is not too tight, knit to the last marker, slip marker, m1, knit to end of row. Row 5 - Knit to 4 stitches before 2nd marker, bring yarn forward, slip 9 stitches (as if to purl), bring yarn back to the back, knit to end of row. Row 7 - repeat row 3. @ button & bean designs 2009 Row 9 - repeat row 5 Row 11 - repeat row 3. Row 13 - knit to second marker, slip marker, bring left needle under the 5 loose strands, knit the next stitch (stitch should wrap around all the loose strands) sm, k to end of row. Row 14 - k5, purl to second marker, slip marker, k1, sm, purl to last 5 stitches, k5. Row 15 - knit to marker, m1, sm, knit to next marker, sm, m1p, p1, m1p, sm, kto next marker, sm, m1, knit to end of row. Now complete 2 more increases (6 increases in total from beginning of the body of the cardigan) asfollows: Row 1: K5, purl to second marker, sm, knit to next marker, sm, purl to 5 stitches remaining, K5. Row 2: Knit to second marker, sm, purl to next marker, sm, knit to end of row. Row 3: as for row 1 Row 4: Knit to marker, m1, sm, knit to marker, sm, m1p, purl to marker, m1p, sm, knit to marker, sm, m1, Knit to end of row. After final increase row, repeat rows 1-3 above oncemore.

Edging

Knit 6 rows Picot castoff Sew in ends and block. Sew on buttons.
