Garland Socks
By PleximoPatterns

SIZE
To fit a woman's US 9/ European 40. Knit the foot longer or shorter as needed to fit your foot length. For a larger or smaller width, try going up or down needle sizes, or adding/omitting one pattern repeat. I find that stranded knitting requires more stitches to fit my foot than a regular sock would, because the stranding does not stretch, and my gauge is much tighter. (For example, for a plain vanilla sock, I would normally work on 64 - 66 stitches - these are worked on 84 stitches and slightly smaller than my normal needles and fit well).

PATTERN
Cuff
With 2.25 mm needles and MC, using your favorite stretchy cast on (l use a long tail cast-on over 2 needles, stretching out the Sts well before starting to knit), cast on 80 Sts over 4 dpns - 20 Sts per needle. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the yarn. Work ribbing: \*K 2, P2, \*repeat to end of Rnd. Work ribbing for a total of 15 Rnds. K 1 Rnd, increasing 4 Sts evenly over the round - 84 Sts. P 1 Rnd.
Leg
With MC & CC, work 6 rows of chart A, 37 rows of Chart B (twice around). Work 14 Rows Chart C (twice around), repeating Chart C as needed until leg measures approximately 8" from cast-on edge. (l did 2 repeats of Chart C) Sl first St from needle 3 onto needle 2 - 41 Sts on needles 3 and 4. Turn work. Heel will be worked on these Sts.43 Instep Sts are on hold on needles 1 and 2.
Eye of Partridge Heel Flap

Continue back and forth until all Sts have been worked and you have 23 Sts, ending with a WS row. Cut MC, leaving an 8" tail to weaveinlater. At the top of the heel flap on the opposite side where the CC remains, attach MC. (Facing the right side of the heel, you will be starting at the top left hand corner.) With 2.5 mm needles, pick up and K 1 St at the top of the heel flap in the gap, then 1 St in each of the Slipped Sts down the side of the heel flap - 20 Sts. K 12 live heel flap Sts onto the needle - 32 Sts total. Socks shown were knit in Sweet Fiber Sock in Moonstone as the Main Colour, and Sandes Garn Sisu in Cream as the Contrast Colour. Any contrasting yarns will work nicely. If using a variegated yarn, make sure that the colours are sufficiently different from the background, or you may find the pattern does not stand out sufficiently. With needle 4, K 11 live heel flap Sts, then pick up and K one stitch in each of the Slipped Sts up the side of the heel flap and Knit 1 extra St at the top in the gap - 20 Sts (31 Sts total).
