Advent Garland 10, Candy Cane
This is simply two strips of knitting wound round a pipe cleaner. You will need a 10 cm / 4" pipe cleaner and 4 ply yarn in red and cream. Make two strips, one in each colour. Using 2.75mm / US size 2 needles, cast on 40 sts and cast them off again. Sew the two strips together and then wind one of the colours round the pipe cleaner, stretching it slightly and then sew it down at each end. Wind the other strip on in the same way, using it to fill in the gaps and sew it down. You can twist the pipe cleaner to tighten up the twist if needed and then shape it into a cane. Using a 2.5mm crochet hook make 15 chain and form into a hanging loop. Sew this to the top of the cane.
