Tiger-Striped Headband The stranded technique used to knit this two-color headband, makes it extra warm on cold autumn nights. It's a perfect project for learning to do simple Fair Isle color changes.

Finished Measurements: Fits a $20^{\prime\prime}–22^{\prime\prime}$ head. Materials: Worsted weight yarn, such as Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted. · MC (Deep Charcoal) - Approx 30 yards CC (Autumn Harvest) - Approx 30 yards
Needles:
US Size 6 - 20-inch circular needle US Size 7 - 20-inch circular needle (or size necessary to obtain gauge)
Additional Supplies:
Stitch marker Tapestry needle
Gauge:
5 1/2 sts $\,=\,1\,^{\prime\prime}$ in st st, using larger needle.
Instructions:
Using smaller needle and MC, CO 96 sts. Join in the rnd, being careful not to twist sts. Place marker between the last st of the rnd and the first st. Work edge band as follows:
Edge Band:
Rnd 1: Knit Rnd 2: Purl Rnd 3: Change to CC, $^{*}\mathrm{k}\,1$ , sl 1 wyib\* Repeat from \* to \* to the end of the rnd. Rnd 4: Continue in CC, ${}^{*}\mathrm{p}1$ , sl 1 wyib\* Repeat from \* to \* to the end of the rnd. Rnd 5: Chance to MC, knit. Rnd 6: Continue in MC, purl.
Ear Warmer Body:
Change to larger needles to begin body of ear warmer and chart. Chart Description: Rnd 1: Using MC, knit. Rnd 2: Using $^{*}C C$ : k4, MC: k3, CC: k1\* Repeat from \* to \* to the end of the rnd. Rnd 3: Using $^{*}C C$ : k3, MC: k3, CC: $k2^{*}$ Repeat from \* to \* to the end of the rnd. Rnd 4: Using $^{*}M C$ : k5, CC: $k3^{*}$ Repeat from \* to \* to the end of the rnd. Rnd 5: Using $^{*}M C$ : k1, CC: k1, MC: k2, CC: k3, MC: $\mathsf{K}\,1^{*}$ Repeat from \* to \* to the end of the rnd. Rnd 6: Using $^{*}C C$ : k3, MC: k2, CC: k1, MC: $k2^{*}$ Repeat from $^*$ to \* to the end of the rnd. Rnd 7: Using $^{*}M C$ : k1, CC: k3, MC: ${\sf k4^{*}}$ Repeat from \* to \* to the end of the rnd. Rnd 8: Using $^{*}M C$ : k2, CC: k5, MC: k1\* Repeat from \* to \* to the end of the rnd. After completing Rnd 10 of the chart, change to smaller needle, and repeat Edge Band. Next Rnd: BO loosely.
