Refuge

This cozy striped cowl is a part of my response to those who have no shelter - the homeless, the refugees, those who are literally left out in the cold. I wish that I could knit one for every homeless person in my city as winter approaches - and I hope that as a collective, we knitters will always work together to warm the hearts and bodies of those in need. 5 balls of Ewe Ewe Wooly Worsted {95 yards each} - 1 each of Vanilla, Pistachio, Black Licorice, Red Poppy, and Aquamarine US size 9 needles 24" circular needles A marker for beginning of round
The Pattern:
With Vanilla, cast on 120. Place marker and begin working in the round: \*k2, p2, repeat from \* around for a total of two rounds. \*P1, k2, p1, repeat from \* around for a total of two rounds. \*P2, k2, repeat from \* around for a total of two rounds. \*K1, p2, k1, repeat from \* around for a total of two rounds. \*K2, p2, repeat from \* around for a total of two rounds. Begin left slant: [Knit one round. \*K8, k2tog, yo, repeat from \* around. Knit one round. \*K7, k2tog, yo, k1, repeat from \* around. Knit one round. \*K6, k2tog, yo, k2, repeat from \* around. Knit one round. \*K5, k2tog, yo, k3, repeat from \* around. Knit one round. \*K4, k2tog, yo, k4, Begin right slant, with Pistachio: [Knit one round. \*K3, yo, ssk, k5, repeat from \* around. Knit one round. \*K4, yo, ssk, k4, repeat from \* around. Knit one round. \*K5, yo, ssk, k3, repeat from \* around. Knit one round. \*K6, yo, ssk, k2, repeat from \* around. Knit one round. \*K7, yo, ssk, k1, repeat from \* around.] Then work one full repeat of left slant. Switch to Black Licorice, work one full repeat of right slant followed by one full repeat of left slant. Switch to Red Poppy, work one full repeat of right slant followed by one full repeat of left slant. Weave in ends and block.
