
TUX
Supplies Needed
Hook size 1.75mm or 6 Scraps of size 10 crochet thread: -- white -- black or deep blue -- orange, yellow or peach Instructions: Body: (with white) With white, chain 10. Sc in second chain from hook, continuing along chain, work 1 hdc, 2dc, 2 trebles, 2 double trebles, in last chain space work (1 treble, 6dc, 1 treble). Continue along other side of chain and work 2 double trebles, 2 trebles, 2 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc. Join with sl st to beginning sc. Do not turn.
Head:
Sl st into next 2 stitches, ch 1, turn. Row 1: Sc in next 5 stitches, ch 1, turn. Row 2: Repeat row 1. Row 3: Sc in second sc, sc in next 2 sc, sl st in last sc. Fasten off. Right Wing: (with black or dark blue) Row 1: Ch 2, 2 sc in 2nd chain, ch 1, turn. Row 2: Sc across, ch 1, turn. Row 3: Sc in first stitch, 2 sc in second stitch (3 sc total), ch 1, turn. Row 4: Sc across, turn (do not ch 1)

Attach the wing to the body with sc's starting on the right side of the body at the second double treble (counting from Tux's bottom) and work through BOTH the stitches of the wing and the body. (3 sc's)
Outer Body: (note: sc's may be substituted for hdc's)
Continue from right wing and work 8 hdc's along right side of body and head until the middle stitch of the last row of the head. Insert hook into the third sc of the first row of the head and make a long hdc, make another in the same place. Work 8 hdc's evenly along left side of body up to first treble crochet of body (counting from Tux's head). Left Wing: chain 4, sc in 2nd chain and next 2 chains, Hdc in next st of body and continue working hdc's around body (putting 2 hdc's in each of Tux's bottom 3 stitches, to prevent curling), st st to beginning sc on wing. There are three options to finish Tux at this point: 1) Finish off. -- Tux will have an even outline for his body. 2) Continue with sl st's up the right side for 6 or 7 stitches and fasten off -- Tux will be rounded on his right side. 3) Ch 1, sc in same stitch and next 5 stitches, sl st in next 3 stitches, (sc, hdc) in next stitch, hdc, dc (this will be the middle of the head), hdc, (hdc, sc) in next stitch, sl st and fasten off. -- Tux will have a rounded right side and a pronounced forehead. This option is the one pictured. Beak: (with orange, peach or yellow) Chain 3, in fourth chain from hook make 3 dc, 1 hdc, fasten off.

Feet (make 2 with orange, peach or yellow): Chain 4, in the fourth chain from hook work 1 dc, 1 double treble, 1 treble, 1 dc, fasten off. Stitch or hot glue on feet and beak and arrange wings (See photo for one example) Embroider eyes with french knots. Tux (Linux logo) Crotchet Pattern: Approx. 4.5cm high.
