Dangling Hat
by AlpiKnit
The Dangling Hat is designed for skiers. It would be best realised with strong contrasting colourswhich would make skiers'heads stand out against the white of the snow. It also features a pompom attached to a long 2-stitches I-cord which will swing behind skiers when they fly down ski runs. It requires working in the round using Magic Loop method and it is knit in stocking stitch from ribbed base up towards crown.

From now on you'll be working every rnd in stocking st. Start following Chart , alternating MC and contrast colours, at the same time decreasing 4 sts evenly across first rnd and first rnd only, as follows: rnd 1: with CC1 \*k13, k2tog\*, rep. from \* to \* until end of rnd [56 sts] rnd 2-12: work in stocking st, alternating colours as shown in Chart. Without repeating the decreases on first rnd, rep. rnds 1-12 of Chart 2 more times, then rnds 1-5 one more time. You'll have made 41 rnds in stocking st. Switch to MC and begin crown decreases, as follows: rnd 42: \*k5, k2tog\*, rep. from \* to \* until end of rnd [48 sts remain] rnd 44 and all uneven rnds: knit rnd 46: \*k4, k2tog\*, rep. from \* to \* until end of rnd [40 sts] rnd 48: \*k3, k2tog\*, rep. from \* to \* until end of rnd [32 sts] rnd 50: \*k2, k2tog\*, rep. from \* to \* until end of rnd [24 sts] rnd 52: \*k1, k2tog\*, rep. from \* to \* until end of rnd [16 sts] rnd 54: k2tog across rnd [8 sts]
