Small amounts of : Red Heart Super Sauer (Brown, Green, Pink) Size 8 Knitting Needles ( used on top) Size G Crochet Hook (used on skirt and lei necklace) Scissors Yarn needle (for weauing in ends) Stiches & Abbreuiations: K = Knit BO = Bind Off Sc = Single crochet Hdc = Half Double Crochet Ch= Chain St/sts= Stitch or Stitches Ea = Each FO = Fasten Off
Hawaii Dress Instructions:
KNITVersion: Tube Top: (shown in photo aboue) With Brown, Cast On 28 sts R1-20: K aCrosS (28sts) at the end of R2o, BO, Leauing a long tail. With the long tail of yarn and using your yarn needle, bring the two sides together and sew a seam from bottom to the top. FO. weaue in all ends. Grass Skirt: Step 1: With Green, cut approx 56, 12" strands of yarn. (or as many as needed for thickness) Step 2: Then take 1 of the cut strands and fold in half, holding your thumb and index finger about an inch down from the top,which forms a loop. Step 3: Now take the crochet hook,and insert it into the loop and into one of the 26 Sts on the bottom of the Tube Top. \*Repeat Steps 2 & 3 again putting another strand in the same st and continue repeating them for ea st around, remember to put at least 2 strands in each of the StS. Tip: You could add more than 2 strands in ea st if you would like a fuller skirt.
Crochet Version:
Tube Top: R1: With Brown,Ch 38, 1 Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in ea ch across to the end, join with sl st to Ist Hdc. R2: \*Ch3, 1 hdc in ea st around, join to beg ch 3\*, R3-10: REPEAT R2, for Rounds 3-10, at the end of Round 10 FO brown. Grass Skirt: (shown in photo aboue) R1: With Green \*Ch3, 1 hdc in ea st around, join to beg ch 3\* R2-1o: REPEAT R1, for Rounds 2-10, at the end of R1o, FO. Weaue in ends. Skirt Fringe: Step 1: With Green, cut aprox 72, 12" strands of yarn. (or as many as needed for thickness) Step 2: Then take 1 of the cut strands and fold in half, holding your thumb and index finger about an inch down from the top,which forms a loop. Step 3: Now take the crochet hook,and insert it into the loop and into one of the sts on the Top of the grass skirt. \*Repeat Steps 2 & 3 again putting another strand in the same st and continue repeating them for ea st around, remember to put at least 2 strands in each st.
CROCHET ONLY:
Anklet: R1: With Green, Ch 15, 3 sc in 1st st, 4sc in next st, repeat across ( this will start curling after the first few repeats, which is what you want) once you reach the end, join with slip stitch to beg sc, FO, weaue in ends. Flowers: R1: With Pink, Make a magic circle, (2sc, 1hdc, 2 sc,) all inside the circle (1st petal made) repeat ( 2sc, 1hdc, 2sc) all in the circle, continue all the way around until you haue a total of 5 petals, join to 1st sc. FO. (Make 2 or 3 Flowers) Assembly: Using green strand of yarn, Sew flowers onto the anklet Now Just Slip Lei Anklet on to one of the dolls ankle.
Lei Necklace Instructions:
CROCHET ONLY
R1: With Pink, Ch 61, 1 sc in 2cnd ch from hook and 1sc in ea ch across, ch 1 turn, R2: 3 sc in 1st st, 4sc in next st, repeat across ( this will start curling after the first feu repeats, which is what you want) once you reach the end, join with slip stitch to beg sc, FO pink. Optional: You can make 2 or 3 leis in different colors and make them longer or shorter than each other. Adjust the length by chaining more or less chains at the beginning.
CROCHET ONLY
Flower: R1: Ch 6, sl st to 1s ch to form a ring, (ch2, 1 hdc,2dc, 2 hdc, sl st) all inside ring, Back Loop: turn flower to the back , ch 4, sl st to the other side, in between the tuo petals directly across. Fo. weaue in ends.
