This is more a recipe than a pattern. These little coasters are really easy and fast to complete.Hopeyou will enjoy making themasmuch asI did! Material: - sample is shown in DMC Senso 100% cotton, a discontinued yarn, but any fingering cotton yarn will do. You will need approximately 6 grams per coaster. - 2.75mm(C) crochet hook (I like my coasters to be tightly crocheted. Feel free to change your hook size to match your own taste.) - tapestry needle Finished Size: Each coaster is about 4"/10cm (diameter) Assume thatwhen/ writeDChere, thefirst DCin each round is actually a ch3.You will also join each round with a slipped st at each end of theround. Crochet terms are given in U.s. terminology. Set-up: Create a loop with the yarn and crochet 12 DC into it. (12st) Pull yarn tail tight. Round 1: \*2DC into the same st\* (24st) Round 2: \*2DC into the same st, 1DC into next st\* (36st) Round 3: \*2DC into the same st, 1DC into the next st, 1DC into next st\* (48st) Round 4: \*1DC into the next st, chain 2, skip one st\* Round 5: \*3 single crochet between each DC from previous row\*. Round 6: Working from left to right, insert hook into next stitch to the right, complete as single crochet. Work into each stitch around, being careful not to crochet too tightly. This is called crab stitch (aka “reverse single crochet") and thanks to Connie, you can find a very clear video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYZi4oylz2A Weave in all ends. As the wrong side looks interesting as well, you might want to use your coaster on both sides. If so, be sure to weave in your ends invisibly. Soak and block if desired, or simply throw your coasters in the washer as I did!
