Dishcloth in Mosaic #1
If you haven't done Mosaic Knitting before, I recommend a little research before you try it, although it isn't hard at all. I have a free pattern on Ravelry called Dishcloth in Mosaic (orange and purple in the picture) which goes into a lot of detail on how to do it and there are numerous excellent online sources. This is just basically a written out pattern. It is based on Barbara G. Walker's Mosaic Design # 33 from her book Mosaic Knitting (which is an excellent resource). She uses charts but I prefer everything all written out. Yarn 100% cotton, 2 contrasting colors, medium weight Needle Size 5 or 6, depending on preference Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

wyib | For example, sl-1 would mean slip one stitch from the left needle to the right without working it. This is always done purlwise, which means the needle is facing the new stitch as if you were going to purl it. |
withyarninback This means that when you slip a stitch purlwise, your yarn needs to be in the back (or on the side farthest away from

This means that when you slip a stitch purlwise, your yarn needs to be in the front (or on the side nearest to you). Your yarn will be in the same position it would normally be if you were going to purl the next stitch instead of slipping it.

Notes:
Odd number rows are the right side, even number rows are the wrong side In other words, if you are knitting an odd number row, you should be looking at the right side Stitches on the front (right) side are slipped wyib (with yarn in back). Stitches on the back (wrong) side are slipped wyif (with yarn in front). You will not be cutting either yarn until you are completely done using it. Instead, carry it up the side of the work (my Dishcloth in Mosaic has detailed explanations and pictures on how to do this or there are many explanations online).

Bind off and sew in ends. On the next page is a picture of what the cloth looks from the back and what it would look like if you did the front in knit and the back in purl.
