Cozy Citrus Raf Scarf Crochet Pattern by Anna Tirat-Gefen - Merino Yarn Tutorial

Crochet Pattern: Raf Scarf By: Anna Tirat-Gefen

MATERIALS: 2 balls of Trendsetter's yarn Merino 8 in Citrus (shown in photos) or the color of your choice. Hook size H $(5.0\;\mathrm{mm})$ GAUGE: 4 sts in a pattern per inch. Exact gauge is not essential to this project. SCARF: Chain 22 Row 1: sc in $3^{\mathrm{rd}}$ chain from the hook (last 2 chains count as $1^{\mathrm{st}}|$ dc), \* dc, $\mathbf{s}\mathbf{c}^{*}$ , repeat between $^{**}\mathfrak{g}$ more times (20 stitches made, counting the ch 2 in the beginning of the row as a $1^{\mathrm{st}}$ dc). Row 2: ch 2, turn, $^{*}\mathrm{sc}$ in the $1^{\mathrm{st}}$ dc below, dc in the sc below \*, repeat between $**8$ more times, sc in the turning chain. Repeat Row 2 until the scarf measures at least 30 inches in length.

FRINGE: Cut $40\,3\,\,\%$ inch-long pieces of yarn. Holding two pieces of yarn together, grab them in the middle with the crochet hook and pull partway through a link of a foundation chain on the bottom end (or the top of the stitch at the top end when working fringe on that end). Pull the four tails through the loop formed by the middle of the pieces in the step above. Even out the four ends, and then pull on them tightly to tighten the loop attaching the fringe to the scarf. Tip: hold the loop middle close to the end of the scarf with the other hand, while pulling the fringe end, to avoid stretching out the (starting o. ending) row of the scarf body.

Skip one (foundation chain at the bottom, or stitch at the top) and repeat attaching the fringe element. In the end, there will be 10 fringe elements at both bottom and top of the scarf. Straighten out the fringe and trim the ends even if necessary.
