8-Stitch Cable Earwarmer

Materials:
#5 or #6 yarn (bulky or super bulky) Scrap yarn for crochet cast on US #10 needles - I used 2 dpns for this project Cable Needle J crochet hook Size: Photos are a 21" earwarmer which is an average adult woman's size. Granddaughter Savannah modeling assisted by our pup, Ranger. CF8: 8-Stitch Cable Pattern: (Refers to only the center 8 stitches of cable Row 7 in this pattern) Slip next 4 stitches onto cable needle & hold at front of work; knit next 4 stitches from left hand needle; then knit next 4 stitches from cable needle.

Pattern Note: Slip the 1st stitch on uneven rows knitwise with yarn in back; slip 1st stitch on even rows purlwise with yarn in front for an neater edge to the headband. Crochet a 20-21 stitch chain using scrap yarn and J crochet hook. Slip the yarn end thru the last stitch to secure. Row 1: FOR THIS BEGINNING ROW 1 ONLY: Using 1 #10 needle & project yarn, pick up and knit 18 stitches in chain. Turn. (Subsequent Row 1 in pattern will be knitted as Row 3.) Row 2: (and all even rows) Slip 1 purlwise, purl 1, knit 3, purl 8, knit 3, purl 2.Turn. Rows 3 & all uneven rows EXCEPT ROW 7: Slip 1 knitwise, knit 1, purl 3, knit 8, purl3, knit 2. Turn Row 7: Slip 1 knitwise, knit 1, purl 3, CF8, purl 3, knit 2. Turn. Row 8: Same as Row 2 Row 9: Same as Row 3 Row 10: Same as Row 2 Repeat until the desired length ending on Row 9 of pattern. Do not bind of Remove scrap yarn crocheted cast on picking up the live stitches with a 2nd needle. Graft using the Kitchener technique. Weave in ends. Enjoy!
