Materials 440 yards fingering weight yarn (2) 24" circular or DPN US 1 needle, or size needed to obtain gauge Gauge 8 sts $=$ 1" in stockinette stitch Abbreviations K1fb - knit into front and back of stitch (increasing one) M1 - pick up the strand between your stitches with left needle, from front to back and knit into the back of it K1tbl - knit stitch through the back loop Ssk - slip 2 stitches knitwise, knit them together P2tog - purl 2 stitches together Note Instructions are written for knitting these socks on 2 circulars. These socks are easily customizable as they are knit toe-up. I have included calf increases that worked for my legs but it will be easy to adjust for your own size. Just keep trying on the socks when you have reached your calf and add or delete increases to make it fit you! Remember to make notes of what you have done so you can make the $2^{\ n d}$ Sock!

TOE
Using your favorite toe-up cast on method (we used the Turkish Cast On for these), CO 10 stitches on each needle (20 stitches total). Knit one round even. Increase on next round and every other round: K1, k1fb, knit to last 2 stitches, k1fb, k1 on each needle, until 28 stitches are on each needle, (56 stitches total). Rearrange stitches so that needle #1 has 33 stitches on it (for lace bat pattern). Knit even for 17 rows. (Each lace bat pattern is separated by 17 rows of stockinette) Begin first lace bat pattern on needle #1. On last row of first bat, begin heel increases on needle #2: k1, k1fb, knit to last 2 stitches, k1fb, k1. Repeat increase on needle #2 every other row until 39 stitches are on needle #2. (16 stitches increased)

SHAPE GUSSET
Row 1 (WS) - Sl1, purl to last stitch before the gap, p2tog, turn Row 2 (RS) - \*SI1, $\mathsf{K}\mathsf{1}^{\star}$ , repeat from \* to last stitch before the gap, ssk, turn Repeat these two rows until the number of stitches on needle #2 returns to the original number before increasing (25 stitches) Rejoin for knitting in the round and on next row, increase by: K1, m1, knit to last 2 stitches, m1, k1 on each needle (62 stitches total) Now rearrange stitches evenly so that each needle has 31 stitches on it. For the second lace bat, you will now use the pattern as if it is a 31 stitch pattern (ignore one stitch on either side of bat pattern) Be careful to center your stitches on needle #1 so that your $2^{\ n d}$ and subsequent bats will line up with each other.
CALF INCREASES
After completing $2^{\ n d}$ bat, increase on Row 15 of stockinette stitch section: Needle #1: Knit to last stitch, m1 Needle #2: Knit to last stitch, m1

(64 stitches) Then on first row of $3^{\mathsf{r d}}$ lace bat, increase 2 stitches on either side: K1, m1, knit to last 2, m1, k1 on each needle (68 stitches) Then on last row of $3^{\mathsf{r d}}$ bat, increase 2 stitches on either side: K1, m1, knit to last 2, m1, k1 on each needle (72 stitches) Continue in established pattern until 4 lace bats are complete. Knit even for 5 rows. Now begin ribbing: $^{\star}\mathsf{K}1$ tbl, p1\* repeat from \*. Work 13 rows of ribbing and bind off using sewn bind off: With a darning needle, thread yarn purl-wise through 2 stitches. Thread yarn knit-wise back through the first stitch and drop it off the needle. Repeat until all stitches have been bound off. Weave in ends, block if necessary. ENJOY!
