BabyFat is a toddler's hat with a double roll brim. Those double rolls have nothing on the darling chubby wrists and knees of many a baby I've known. The double roll brim seems to appear like magic! A fun, fast and easy knit in worsted or bulky yarn. MATERIALS: Soft and washable worsted or bulky yarn, 150 - 200 yds. Shown in Schoeller & Stahl's Wonderwool (50 g, 85 m) 2 skeins. US 7 dpns, US 7 16" circulars or size needed to obtain gauge. GAUGE: 5 sts/inch in stockinette st knit in the round. INSTRUCTIONS: Using circular needle, co 63 sts; join, marking start of rnd . Purl 10 rnds; this will create one roll Change to stockinette st (k every rnd). Knit 10 rnds; this will create the second roll, which will be the bottom roll (trust me). Next rnd, \*k 6, m1 by knitting in the front and back of next st, repeat from \* to end of rnd (72 sts). Continue in st st until hat measures 5" from bottom to top (about 28 rnds). Measure by standing hat on double roll brim on a flat surface and, with a ruler, measure from surface to top of hat. Do not pull rolls flat whenmeasuring. Begin decreases on next rnd. \*K6, k2 tog, repeat from \* to end of rnd. Knit one rnd. Continue decreases as follows, changing to dpns when necessary: \*K5, k2 tog around (54 sts). Knit one rnd. \*K4, k2 tog around (45 sts). Knit one rnd. \*K3, k2 tog around (36 sts). Knit one rnd. \*K2, k2 tog around (27 sts). Knit one rnd. \*K1, k2 tog around (18 sts). Knit one rnd. \*K2 tog around (9 sts). Cut yarn, leaving 8" tail. Thread tail through remaining 9 sts and draw up tightly. Weave in yarn tail and all other ends. To achieve the effect in photo, cast on with contrast color (green) and pur first ten rnds. Change to main color (red) and knit the next ten rows, make increases, and k16 additional rows before changing back to contrasting color. To make a jogless join, k 1 rnd in new color; at the end of first rnd, lift leg of main color stitch below and k together with first st of contrasting color rnd 1.
